Celtic bow, breath and beat entertaining Greater Seattle
The Fire Inside performs smoldering Celtic music with heel-clicking intensity. Drawing from a collection of traditional and trend-setting influences, The Fire Inside will stoke your musical fire with their fiddle, uilleann pipes, bodhran, whistles, guitar, concertina, mandolin and scorching vocals. They perform throughout Greater Seattle and Portland - from pubs to country clubs, private parties, public festivals and weddings too.
Members of The Fire Inside spent two weeks of August on the 5th Avenue Theater workshop production of "Come From Away" adding pipes, fiddle and whistles to this musical in the making. Some may recall how the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland "hosted" thousands of stranded international airline passengers during 9/11. The story offers a glimpse into the warm hospitality of the people in this rock-covered Canadian town, which doubled in size overnight with the arrival of over 40 planes that couldn't land in New York. They rallied like good Newfoundlanders and offered food, housing and comfort to people from all over the world. In true 5th Avenue Theater fashion, this drama is a healthy mixture of laughter, tears and satisfying insight. Hopefully it'll get picked up by Broadway!

The Fire Inside all began with Carol Whitaker, the band's first penny whistler, reaching out to the rest of us with the idea of forming a Celtic band. That was back in late 2010. We met for our first rehearsal in late January 2011 and six weeks later had our debut performance in Issaquah on St. Paddy's Day! Some band members have come and gone as we have evolved - each one a treasured memory and much appreciated part of our continuing journey.
